Reading Notes: Pygmalion
This week I am going to retell the story of Pygmalion. Basically it is about a man who makes a statue in the form of a female and falls in love with it. Eventually he appeals to Venus, who grants his wish of having his statue come alive. His statue becomes a real woman and they marry and have kids. The entire reason why he makes this statue is he believes that "nature has given failings to the female heart," and is offended by this. So he never gets married and instead literally makes his ideal woman. One thing that doesn't make sense to me is why is this woman is different than the ones that he was trying to avoid. So I am going to write a version where he gets his ivory woman, but she is just terrible.
